Biography:
As Executive Vice President of the Human Development Centre in Islamabad and Chair of the North-South Roundtable, Khadija Haq is an authority on economic and social development as well as women's empowerment.
An early advocate of development with a social conscience, Haq has worked in various capacities in her native Pakistan and abroad. She was a Senior Adviser on Education at UNICEF from 1989-95, where she has designed policy and strategy for basic education in the developing world, with an emphasis on educating girls.
Having written extensively on issues of economic and social development, Haq has published Dialogue of a New Order, Adjustment with Growth and Development of People. Haq has also conducted research at a variety of institutions, such as Harvard and the Overseas Development Council. She is a member of a number of boards and organisations, including UNDP's Eminent Group of Advisers on Human Development.
Khadija Haq is a 1998 recipient of the State of The World Forum Award.
