Biography:
Douglas Roche, a former Canadian Member of Parliament (1972-84), has proven an outstanding world leader for disarmament.
While serving as Canada's Ambassador for Disarmament (1984-89), Roche was elected Chairman of the United Nations Disarmament Committee. Roche also serves as Special Advisor on disarmament and security matters on the Holy See's delegation to the United Nation's General Assembly.
He is currently a Visiting Professor at the University of Alberta, President of Global Security Consultants, and serves as Chairman of Canadian Pugwash and the Millennium Council of Canada. A prolific writer, Roche has published over 15 books on Catholicism, disarmament, security and development issues.
